Pamela K. Atwood

WEST HARTFORD – Pamela K. Atwood, MA, director of Life Enrichment and Dementia Care at Hebrew Health Care (HHC) has been named the recipient of the Mary Rosa McDonough Award from Saint Joseph College for her outstanding contributions to her profession and the community. The award will be presented on Friday, April 27 at the school’s Distinguished Alumnae/i Award Dinner at Wampanoag Country Club in West Hartford. Pamela will be one of the four alumni honored this year.
Atwood credits Hebrew Health Care for supporting her work and enabling her professional accomplishments. “I am grateful to HHC and its leadership for giving me the opportunity to answer my calling and challenge the status quo of dementia care,” she said in a statement.
Noreen Shugrue, a research associate at the University of Connecticut Center on Aging said of Atwood, “Underlying her impressive professional and personal accomplishments is Pam’s understanding and deeply-held belief in the primacy and possibility of human development across the life span regardless of age, health, and cognitive ability.  It is that quality that affects students, clients and colleagues most profoundly.”
