WEST HARTFORD — The Jewish Historical Society of Greater Hartford is now collecting stories and photos to be included in the second volume of their popular book,  Remembering the Old Neighborhood: Stories From Hartford’s North End.
“Our goal is to gather stories and anecdotes — not biographies — from people who grew up in the North End, South End, or anywhere else in Hartford from the 1930s through the 1960s,” says the Society’s director, Estelle Kafer.  “Perhaps you’ve got an interesting story about Keney Park or shopping in downtown Hartford, or fond memories of a favorite restaurant or a special hang-out. Share your memories about interactions with neighbors, businesses, schoolmates, teachers, clubs, organizations, sports teams, etc.”
The Society is also seeking photos of neighborhood street scenes, clubs, organizations, sports teams, activities and, of course, people.  Scenes, businesses and people in the photos must be identified (except for large group photos).
Stories and photos may be sent, e-mailed or brought to the Society’s office at 333 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford 06117.
