A University of Pennsylvania group called PennBDS will sponsor an anti-Israel conference on campus. Speakers scheduled for the 2012 National Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Conference from Feb. 3-5 have claimed Israel was created by terrorist gangs, engages in systematic ethnic cleansing, and that Israelis and Jews believe they are exceptional. Some university alumni have expressed anger.
“If you want to break up Israel economically, everyone from BDS has to stop using computers…Microsoft has R&D in Israel. Apple just bought a major company in Israel,” said Dov Hoch, a 1986 Penn graduate and president of the alumni group Penn Club of Israel.
Beginning next week, the Ledger will introduce– Fight the Boycott – a new feature that will appear periodically to encourage readers to buy Israeli products targeted by the BDS movement.
