Hinda Ethel Hausman

Hinda Ethel Hausman, known as Ethel to friends and family and Zaza to her grandchildren, 83, died Nov. 14 in Fairfield.  She was the widow of Irwin M. Hausman z”l. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Fannie Madwed. She received a B.A. from the University of Connecticut, and an M.A. from University of Bridgeport.  She was a member of Congregation Beth-El, Congregation Agudas Achim, and a supporter and volunteer for the Ahlbin Center.  She was a strong supporter of Israel, and Jewish philanthropies and institutions. She is survived by her sons, Rabbi Jonathan (Susan) Hausman and of Stoughton, Mass., Matthew (Dina) Hausman of Trumbull, Samuel (Elham) Hausman of Mansfield, Mass., and Ethan Hausman of Alexandria Vir.; her brother Sidney Madwed of Fairfield; and her grandchildren, Sarah, Israel, Jacqueline, Margalit, and Nora Hausman.  She was also predeceased by her brothers Jack and Buddy Madwed.  Memorial Contributions may be made to American Friends of ALYN Hospital, 51 East 42nd St., Suite 308, New York, N.Y. 10017; The Hausman Memorial Speakers Fund at Ahavath Torah Congregation, 1179 Central St., Stoughton, Mass. 02072; or Chabad of Fairfield, 36 Wynn Wood Drive, Fairfield, CT 06825.
