Orange, CT— Congregations of Orange Collaborative presents “Sasson v’Simcha Bluegrass Shabbat,” 7:30 pm at Temple Emanuel of Greater New Haven (TE), 150 Derby Ave. TE’s own David Sasson with a Bluegrass quartet will lead the music with selections from his recent album, “Sasson v’Simcha.” 

Westport, CT- ADL Connecticut in partnership with the Westport Country Playhouse presents “A Place For Us: A Celebration of Jewish Broadway” with Ari Axelrod; 7 pm; a celebration of Jewish culture, stories about Jewish life and the vitality honoring the songs and stories of Jewish composers and their crucial contributions to the American musical. SUNDAY, May 12

Greenwich, CT—“Voices from the Frontline,” a special opportunity for high school students to hang out with heroes from Israel. Meet two Oct. 7 heroes who recently served in Gaza. No knowledge of Israel or Jewish background necessary. Bring your friends! At a private home (address will be shared upon registration). Snacks will be served. FREE, but registration a must. West Hartford, CT— Yom Hazikaron (Israel Remembrance Day). 6:30 at the Mandell JCC, 335 Bloomfield Ave. Gather together to remember Israel’s fallen soldiers and victims of terror, this that have lost their lies so that Israel can exist. This year we will spotlight the memory of our loved ones who were lost in Israel. If you would like to share their names, add their names on the registration form. Statewide (virtual) Lunch & Learn: Religious Discrimination in 2024. The Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO) in partnership with ADL Connecticut will present a virtual program, 12 pm-1:15 pm. Stacey. West Hartford, CT—“Zoning & Exclusion in West Hartford, Then & Now,” 6 pm. The origins of residential zoning in CT can be traced back to efforts by the West Hartford town government to block a Hartford Jewish grocer from building a store in a residential neighborhood. This program will explore the past and efforts today to address the economic segregation wrought  by zoning over the past 100 years.

West Hartford, CT — 28th Annual Phyllis Hoffman Hartford Jewish Film Festival presents: “999: The Forgotten Girls,” at the Mandell JCC, 7 pm. 999 reveals the hidden story of 999 young, unmarried, Jewish women who were registered to work in a supposed shoe factory and instead were sent to Auschwitz. Among them was Rena Kornreich, whose family will be in attendance at the screening. Rena, number 1716, arrived at Auschwitz in March 1942. Three years and forty one days later, she was liberated in Neustadt Glewe. She and a few other survivors reveal the truth of this almost completely ignored piece of women’s history, the first official Jewish transport to Auschwitz.
