Greenwich, Conn.— Lit Cafe in The Gallery: A Morning with Local Authors, Daisy Florin and Alex Troy; 10 am. Presented by UJA-JCC Greenwich at YWCA Greenwich, 259 E. Putnam Ave. Daisy Alpert Florin lives in Greenwich and is the author of My Last Innocent Year, a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice. In this debut novel, still recovering from her mother’s death, Isabel leaves her widowed father, the owner of a Jewish deli on the Lower East Side, for a small private college in New England. An encounter with an Israeli student ends in disaster, and she embarks on an ill-advised secret affair with a married professor. A coming-of-age story about a young woman learning to trust her voice as she moves toward independence.

Alex Troy lives in Wilton and Florida and worked as a lawyer and investor for 30 years before deciding to become an educator. The Academy of Smoke and Mirrors: A Boarding School On The Brink is his first novel. In it Jeff, a former hedge fund manager and lawyer, takes the helm of failing Hampton Acres Hebrew Academy. Was it crazy spending $150 million to create the world’s only Jewish boarding school and put it in rural Georgia? Or was it crazier still for Jeff to believe he could save the school? Then danger presents with a bomb threat, and Jeff must decide whether saving the school is

Greenwich, CT— PJ Library Family Fun Event: Teach your children to be the light; 3:30-5p.m.; Teach your children the important Jewish value of caring for their community. Gather with other PJ Library families to assemble Chanukah care packages for Schoke Jewish Family Service and make the Festival of Lights even brighter for Holocaust survivors in Fairfield Count. Greenwich, CT — David Film Festival: “Sky Raiders.” At 5 pm. Stream online. This uplifting film for the entire family follows Yotam, who is obsessed with flying, but his overprotective mother disapproves. When he and his classmate Noa find a rare antique plane in the junkyard, they team up with Morris, a grumpy old former pilot. Danielson, CT— Celebrate the Rededication of Temple Beth Israel which had to be renovated after flooding due to frozen pipes last February. Event at 1 pm. add a unique flavor to our celebration, is the introduction of “Recipes Revival,” a cookbook that features cherished recipes from the Temple Sisterhood dating back nearly 70 years. This cookbook is a testament to the enduring bonds and traditions that have bound us together and honors Naomi and Marty Weiner, longtime members of our close. A limited number of cookbooks available for purchase. Latkes will be served and the annual retired Rev. Greg Thomas Chai Stakes Dreidel Tournament will be played. RSVP by Nov. 19.
