WEST HARTFORD – David R. Miller of West Hartford has been elected the new chair of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford Board of Trustees.
Miller succeeds Thomas M. Divine, who served as chair of the Foundation from 2008- 2011. A member of the board since 2005, Miller chaired the Foundation’s Investment Committee for six years. Miller is managing director and portfolio manager at Conning & Company. Prior to joining Conning in 2006, Miller was employed by Citigroup as a senior portfolio manager and head of the Investment Management Group for the Travelers Life & Annuity portfolios.
A graduate of the University of Kansas with a BS in economics and mathematics, Miller, FSA (Fellow in the Society of Actuaries) also earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Hartford, and participated in the Tuck Executive Management Program at Dartmouth College.
The Foundation has also announced the election of Leigh A. Newman of Bloomfield to its board. Newman is senior counsel in the Individual Clients Department at Day Pitney LLP. She currently serves on the Alumni Schools Committee for Princeton University and is a member of the Planned Giving Committee for the Loomis-Chaffee School. She is immediate past chair of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford. Newman received an AB from Princeton University and a J.D. with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
