Swastika, antisemitic comments found in Vanderbilt U library

(JTA) – A swastika and antisemitic comments were drawn in the main library at Vanderbilt University. A student discovered the graffiti Tuesday, April 16 on a study carrel and reported it to the campus police, the Nashville university said in a statement. The campus police have opened an investigation and said they will share information with the Metro Nashville Police Department, as well as the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the FBI. “We wholeheartedly reject antisemitism and its symbols, and the abhorrent ideology associated with this act of vandalism has no place on our campus,” the university said in a statement. “Vanderbilt does not tolerate language or actions that are bigoted or intended to intimidate anyone in our community. We remain deeply committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.” The graffiti have been removed. No suspects have been identified, police told The Tennessean newspaper.
