Letter to the Ledger

In Support of Ned Lamont

I am supporting Ned Lamont for Governor.

My wife Cynthia and I have known Ned and Annie Lamont for 35 years. In that time, I’ve witnessed firsthand Ned’s commitment to advancing social justice and civil rights and caring for the most vulnerable in our society – consistent with the values of our Jewish community.

Ned strongly supports a secure Israel to prosper and defend itself as a sovereign nation. Having visited Israel several times, Ned is keenly aware of the strategic, religious, cultural and economic importance of America’s support for Israel.

As a businessperson, Ned personally understands the mutual benefit of a close commercial partnership between Connecticut and Israel. One of his major initiatives to grow our economy in Connecticut is increasing American business collaborations with Israel by working with Connecticut’s Jewish community. More than 250 Connecticut companies trade with Israel and Ned strongly opposes the BDS movement.

Last week, more than 50 Jewish leaders from across Connecticut wrote to support Ned Lamont for Governor. I join with these prominent friends in urging you to vote for Ned Lamont on November 6th.

Richard Blumenthal
U.S. Senator
