NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Israel Cancer Research Fund, Connecticut Chapter, will pay tribute to three Connecticut oncologists at the Third Annual Heroes for Hope evening on Sunday, Nov. 4, 6 p.m., at Temple Beth El in Stamford. The 2018 community heroes are Dr. Beverly Drucker, Dr. Richard Zelkowitz, and Dr. Paul Weinstein.

Dr. Beverly Drucker

Board-certified in medical oncology, Dr. Drucker is affiliated with Greenwich Hospital and is a member of Yale-New Haven Health and the Northeast Medical Group. In practice for 25 years, she specializes in solid tumors, participates in clinical trials and has published widely in medical journals. She has received several awards in recognition of her dedication to patient care.

Dr. Richard Zelkowitz

Dr. Zelkowitz is medical director of the Smilow Family Breast Health Center and section chief of hematology/oncology at Norwalk Hospital. In practice for 29 years, he is board-certified in internal medicine, oncology and hematology, and is also a clinical affiliate of Sloan Kettering Cancer and a clinical professor of medicine at Weill Cornell Medical School. His practice focuses on breast cancer treatment.

Dr. Paul Weinstein

At Stamford Health for more than 40 years, Dr. Weinstein is medical director of medical oncology and hematology at the Bennett Cancer, and co-director of the Cancer Risk and Prevention Program. Board certified in hematology, internal medicine and medical oncology, Dr. Weinstein is associate clinical professor of medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He holds clinical affiliations with Memorial Hospital for Cancer and Allied Diseases and with the Memorial Sloan Cancer Center.

The evening’s keynote speakers will be Andy Faas, author, management advisor and Public Voices Fellows at Yale University, and Dr. Mark Israel, international executive director of ICRF.
