LIL AND LEE LIBERMAN of New Haven will celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
A native of Springfield, Mass., Lee Liberman met New Haven native Lillian Estren in the summer of 1940 at Woodmont Beach in Milford. The couple was married in New Haven while Lee, a U.S. Army veteran of the Battle of the Bulge, was on leave from active duty. Now retired, Lee worked for Met-Life and Lil worked as a dental assistant.
The Libermans, who have lived in New Haven their entire married life, are active members of the Westville Synagogue and the historic Orchard Street Shul, where Lee is a past president. They are also members of the Hebrew Free Loan and Burial Association, the Ethnic Heritage Center of New Haven and the Golan Chapter of the American Magan David for Israel.
The Libermans plan to celebrate their anniversary with their family, including their three daughters – Anita Silver of Berlin, Kathi Liberman of Rocky Hill, and Laurie Becker and her husband Benny of Orange; as well as their grandchildren Jennifer Cavey and her husband Joe, Brian Silver and his wife Becky, Maggie Becker and Tim Becker, and their great-grandchildren, Ryan and Will Cavey and Matthew and Libby Silver.
