Students from the Jewish High School of Connecticut (JHSC) were among the many teens who spent one of the last weekends of their summer vacation at the week-long BBYO Connecticut Valley Region (CVR) Regional Leadership Training Institute (RLTI)/B’Yachad, held in Windsor Locks.

Among the JHSC students preparing to become leaders of their local BBYO chapters were sophomore Zoe Jaffe-Berkowitz and senior Sam Terr, both of Stamford, and Julia Arnowitz of Wilton, a JHSC senior who is not only serving in a BBYO leadership position for her local chapter but was also elected to the Jewish youth organization’s Regional Board.

BBYO isn’t the only Jewish youth group benefitting from the Stamford high school’s emphasis on leadership. Senior Gabriella Lieberman of Stamford was recently selected from among teens all across the country to serve on the National Board of the Orthodox youth group NCSY.

To help foster the growth of tomorrow’s Jewish leaders, this year JHSC has created a leadership seminar to transform students who are established leaders into mentors for those who aspire to join their ranks.
