JFS honors generations of leaders

Mara Brosler

BRIDGEPORT – Mark Block and Mara Brosler, both of Trumbull, and Joseph Macy and Eric Newman, both of Fairfield, will be honored by the Jewish Family Service of Bridgeport at a Sunday brunch to be held on March 27 at 10 a.m. at the Fairfield Museum and History Center.
Block, who has long been active in local Jewish community organizations will receive the A.O. Samuels Young Leadership award.  Currently, he is involved in the Thriving Jewish Community Initiative and is also executive director of Congregation Rodeph Sholom in Bri dgeport.
A social worker with Connecticut Hospice, Mara Brosler is an active member of Congregation B’nai Torah in Trumbull, where she serves both on the board and as co-chair of the social action committee.

Eric Newman

Joseph Macy and his late wife, Julie, were pillars of the local Orthodox community.  Macy remains actively involved in Congregation Ahavath Achim in Fairfield, NCSY, Yeshiva Gedola of Bridgeport and Chabad of Fairfield.
Eric Newman is a proud member of Congregation B’nai Israel in Bridgeport.  He also actively volunteers for many local civic organizations including the PTA, the United Way, the Fairfield Town Council and the Income Tax Assistance program.
