Food lovers will have a chance to explore the regions of Israel via the country’s culinary identity as part of a five-session monthly course offered by the Jewish Community Center of Greater New Haven in Woodbridge. The series will kick off on August 30 and will focus on the food of Tel Aviv. Subsequent sessions will be held on the last Wednesday of the month and will focus on Jerusalem, Haifa, the Galilee and Nazareth.
Sessions will be led by local chefs Sahar Yahav and Lara Thomas Yahav of the Milla Project, an international nonprofit organization that describes itself as “promoting socio-economic advancement for women, minority health equity, cultural competence in health care, and cultural and diversity awareness and respect within the global community.” Lara Thomas Yahav is also the owner of Sahar Catering.
Students will learn cooking techniques and engage in region-specific dialogue for a full cultural experience. Each session will close with a community dining experience.
To register email gracek@jccnh.org, or call (203) 387-2522 x228. Admission for JCC members is $18 per session, $80 for the series; for non-members, $21 per session, $90 for the series.
