
Math was on the menu for Pi Day at Solomon Schechter Academy in New London one afternoon last month. Fourth-graders had fun learning about the formula relating the area of a circle to its radius in a hands-on lesson guest-taught by Ian Frommer, associate professor of mathematics at the United States Coast Guard Academy.
