State Representatives Matthew Lesser and Joseph Serra, State Senator Paul Doyle, and members of the Jewish War Veterans (JWV) Post 51 were on hand at the City Council Chambers in Middletown on the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 5, to take part in a ceremony to rename Connecticut’s Route 9 Bridge in honor of the late Major General Maurice Rose. Born in Middletown in 1899, Rose fought valiantly in World Wars I and II. He was the highest-ranking American officer killed in action during the Second World War. The dedication was made possible through the efforts of Michael Needle of JWV Post 51.
