Hebrew National won’t post any more non-kosher videos

(JTA) — Kosher hot dog brand Hebrew National will no longer post videos with non-kosher dishes on its website. A Hebrew National official wrote to JTA in an email August 27 that the company’s website and social media accounts “will no longer feature non-kosher toppings and hot dog combinations.” The email comes after an August 6 JTA article on Hebrew National videos advertising the hot dogs with bacon, shellfish and cheese — all patently non-kosher. (Cheese is not intrinsically non-kosher, but when paired with meat it is not kosher.) “Our consumers who adhere to a kosher diet are very important to us,” the official wrote. “While the non-kosher suggestions we presented were intended for a broader audience, we respect the beliefs and standards of our loyal kosher consumers and want to ensure they are completely comfortable with how we present Hebrew National hot dogs.”
