BLOOMFIELD – Larry Greenfield of West Hartford is the recipient of an award presented by Play for a Cure and Komen Connecticut. Greenfield received the award in recognition of his 17 years of generous support of the Play for a Cure event, which benefits the Connecticut affiliate of Susan G. Komen. The award was presented to Greenfield at Play for a Cure, held in November at Tumble Brook Country Club in Bloomfield. This year, the annual fundraising event raised $85,000 for Komen Connecticut.

Since its inception in 1997, Play for a Cure has raised more than $1.5 million to benefit Komen Connecticut and the local fight against breast cancer.

It was created by Greenfield’s wife, Diane Greenfield, who founded the event after two of her close friends were diagnosed with breast cancer.

“We are committed to the fight against breast cancer and are pleased to play a role in providing necessary information and services to women all over our state as well as funding vital research,” said Greenfield.

Funds raised by the event are invested in finding cures for breast cancer, while also helping local underserved women access breast cancer services.
