HARTFORD — Magen David Adom and Hartford Hospital were named recipients of the 2013 Connecticut/Israel Collaboration Award presented by the Hartford Business Alliance and the Hartford Jewish Federation at the third annual Connecticut-Israel Technology Summit. On hand to receive the award on behalf of their respective organizations were (pictured here, left to right): Dr. Michael Drescher, Division of Emergency Medicine, Hartford Hospital/University of Connecticut; Gary Perl, northeast regional director, American Friends of Magen David Adom (AFMDA); Burt Klein, AFMDA’s New England representative.

Nili Shalev, Israel’s Economic Minister for North America, and Catherine Smith, Commissioner of Economic and Community Development, State of Connecticut, made the presentations.

“Magen David Adom, the first responders for all medical emergencies for all of Israel, utilizes new technologies with compassion, saving lives in Israel,” said Perl. “MDA’s seven different types of emergency medical vehicles use new technology in saving lives, being dispatched each minute of every hour, day and night. New technologies for MDA’s medical first responders enable all of Israel’s first responders to communicate with each other at a moment’s notice.

“New technologies are used to safeguard the nation’s blood supply from both cyber-attacks and medical diseases. MDA is proud and fortunate to team up with Hartford Hospital in Medi-Vac training.  This partnership is a win-win for both Magen David Adom and for Hartford Hospital.”
