Herbert “Rhymes with Sherbert” Lebowitz, 91, of West Hartford, formerly of Pittsfield, Mass., died May 26. He was the husband of Sonia Nissenbaum Lebowitz. Raised in New York City, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister Jeanette Fluger of West Caldwell N.J., as well as his children David Lebowitz of San Leandro, Calif., Ellen (Lebowitz) Garrison of Los Angeles, Calif., and Andrew Lebowitz and his wife, Lisa of Glastonbury; and his grandchildren, Jessica and Sarah Garrison and Jenna, Emily, Shayna, and Zachary Lebowitz.
