Seven men from six Conservative congregations throughout Connecticut were each recently presented with the annual Keeper of the Flame award by the Connecticut Valley Region of the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs. Receiving their awards at Congregation Rodeph Shalom on April 14 were: (l to r) Bob Tellar of The Emanuel Synagogue, West Hartford; Martin Melnick of Beth El Temple, West Hartford; Sam Goodman of The Emanuel Synagogue, West Hartford (who will turn 100 this June!); Harold Goodman of Congregation Rodeph Sholom, Bridgeport; Arnold Hyman of Temple Beth Sholom, Hamden; Harvey Remz of Congregation Or Shalom, Orange; and Jack Steigelfest, Temple Beth Sholom- B’nai Israel, Manchester.
