Governor Dannel Malloy and other government officials and community leaders were among those on hand to honor Rabbi David Israel of Stamford and Alma Rutgers and Don Snyder of Greenwich at the Anti-Defamation League’s 2012 Daniel R. Ginsberg Humanitarian Award Reception on Jan. 17. The event at Temple Beth El in Stamford had been postponed from November 2012 as a result of Hurricane Sandy.
Rabbi Israel is the rabbinic dean at Bi-Cultural Day School in Stamford. Don Snyder is a retired producer for NBC’s Today Show. Snyder’s wife, Alma Rutgers, has served in Greenwich town government for more than 25 years and is a columnist for the Greenwich Times.
“It was an exceptional evening,” said ADL regional director Gary Jones. “We had highly deserving honorees who clearly understand the value of ADL’s work. We are proud of the strong relationship we have with the towns comprising Lower Fairfield County and the support we have from our constituents in those towns. We are enormously appreciative that Governor Malloy took the time to address our guests. His ability to explain the role of ADL in helping to pass important legislative initiatives in partnership with the Governor further reinforced the impact we have in making Connecticut a better place to live and work.”
