On Sunday, Jan. 13 more than 100 local women came together at the Benet Rothstein Chabad Jewish Center in Glastonbury for “Loaves of Love,” an afternoon of food, fun, friendship – and baking – hosted by The Woman’s Touch and Glastonbury Hadassah. Each participant baked two Challahs, one for themselves and one for a friend in need of a “lift.” The women chose from a variety of recipes, kneaded the dough, braided and shaped the loaves, garnished them and then popped them in the oven.
“People are looking for ways to make this world a more loving, kinder place,” said Yehudis Wolvovsky, director of The Woman’s Touch, a Jewish women’s league that hosts social and educational programs designed to add meaning and excitement to the Jewish holidays and rituals. “Loaves of Love is truly a fun and meaningful way of reaching out to others — with love.”
Erika Schwartz of the Glastonbury Hadassah agreed. “We are delighted to join in such a wonderful program that brings women together and allows us to give back to those in need,” she said.
