COHEN-SCHEPART

Florence (Berkon) Cohen-Schepart, 89, of Haddam, formerly of West Hartford and Windsor, CT, died June 8. Born and raised in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Rosella (Glazier) Berkon. She graduated Weaver High School class of 1953. She lived many years in West Hartford before moving to Windsor and then Haddam. She was also predeceased by her brother H. Melvin Berkon, her former husband and father of her children Newton A. Cohen, and her husband Howard Schepart, and her son-in-law Austin Blake. She spent her professional career as an administrative assistant for Hartford High School, and retired from the City of Hartford Board of Education as secretary. She also served as PTA president of Beth Shalom Synagogue in Hartford. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going to the casino and playing cards with friends, especially mahjong and canasta. Florence is survived by her daughters, Shellee Horner and her husband Thomas of East Granby, and Rebecca Blake of Deep River; her “Boyzee” David W. Cohen and his wife Laura of Chester; her grandchildren, Anna (Greg), Jacob, Samuel, Matthew, Rachel, and Grace Cohen and Logan(Alyse) and Kelsee Horner; and many close cousins.
