Norman Hanenbaum, 94, of Middletown, Conn., died Sept. 11. Born in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Israel and Rose Hanenbaum. He served in the US Marine Corps. He served as post commander of the Jewish War Veterans Post 51 and as commander of the CT Department of Jewish War Veterans. He was inducted into the CT Veterans Hall of Fame at the State Capitol in 2012. He was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom Rodfe in Chester. He is survived by his children, Marcy Wien and her husband Tom of Newport Beach, Calif., and Barry Hanenbaum and his wife Elaine of West Hartford, Conn.; his grandchildren Curt Hanenbaum and his wife Lindy, Haley Hanenbaum, and Cara Wien and her husband Ethan; his sister Zelda Zaben of Baltimore, Md.; his brother Allen Hanenbaum and his wife Susan of Potomac, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
