Muriel “Cookie” Kaplan, 86, of West Hartford, Conn., died July 11. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald I. Kaplan. Born in Hartford, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Myer and Minnie (Krazner) Stepakoff. Her family were members of The Emanuel Synagogue. She is survived by her children, Lisa Kaplan Scherer and her fiance Jay Rubin, and Gregory Kaplan and his wife Elana Katz Kaplan; her grandchildren, Marisa Scherer Cheang and her husband, Zack, Michael Scherer, Danyella Kaplan and Jake Kaplan; a niece and two nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Harvey Stepakoff.
