WEINSTEIN

Helen B. Weinstein, 87, of Bridgeport, Conn., formerly of Trumbull, died July 16. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Albert (Chuck) Weinstein. She was the daughter of the late Edward G. and Charlotte Berger. A graduate of Newton, Mass. high school and Brandeis University, she earned her master’s degree in social work from Simmons College. Devoted to community service, she served as the first female chairperson of the Trumbull Town Council. She was also active in Trumbull’s Trumbull’s Daniels Farm School PTA and the Trumbull Senior Center. Following her career in public service, she worked for Preusser Research Group in Trumbull, from which she retired in her early 1980s. In her free time, Helen greatly enjoyed rooting for and attending New York Giants football games, as well as sticking up for her hometown Red Sox amongst family and friends with “different allegiances.” She is survived by her three sons, Kenneth and his wife Rita of Easton, Conn., Richard and his wife Melissa of Brookline, Mass., and Jeffrey and his wife Katja of New York; her grandchildren, Ryan, Sarah and Asher; her brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Brenda Berger; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Weinstein; and her nieces and nephews, Debbie Berger, Michael Berger, Judy Weinstein and Robert Weinstein.
