KALNITSKY

Semyon Kalnitsky, 96, of Worcester, Mass., died July 9. He was the husband of Alla Kalnitsky. Born in Koidanovo, a Jewish settlement near Minsk, Belarus, he was the son of Naftali and Tsilya Kalnitsky. After fleeing the Nazis to Kazakhstan, he was conscripted into the Soviet Army. For his military service he was awarded the medals For Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-45 and Twenty Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-45. He later received a degree in electrical engineering at the Belarussian Polytechnic Institute. In addition to his wife of 75 years, he is survived by his daughters, Elena and Marina; his granddaughters, Victoria, Vera and Alexandria; and his great-grandchildren, Ilana, Anna, Sam, Liam and Tyler.
