JCC in Sherman dedicates the David Marks Theater

At a dedication ceremony held at Annual Meeting of the JCC in Sherman on Sunday, July 10, the building’s theater was renamed the David Marks Theater, to honor the memory of the man who helped build the JCC. 

Marks, who was one of many volunteers who physically helped build the stage and other parts of the JCC building. A holocaust survivor who was imprisoned at Auschwitz concentration camp, he was a dedicated member of JCC who loved his town, his family, his country and the State of Israel.

Among the guests at the July 10 dedication were State Senator Julie Kushner and First Selectman Don Lowe, who presented citations and proclamations to the JCC and to Marks’ wife, Kathy Marks.  and to the JCC Sherman, and  many original founders and past presidents Barbara Ackerman and Russ Whitman.

The JCC in Sherman continues to be an inclusive organization and a place where all are welcome.
