Robert S. Abels of Branford, formerly of Livingston, N.J., died Nov. 24 after a brief battle with COVID-19. He was the widower of Gusta Abels. He was an active member of Congregation Mishkan Israel in Hamden. He is survived by his and daughters, Julie Abels Chevan and her husband David, and Margot Abels and her wife Bridget McGuiness; and his grandchildren, Makayla, Noah, and Jesse. Born in New York he was raised in Lawrence, Long Island, New York.
