On Tuesday, August 25, 5 p.m., Prof. Pamela S. Nadell will discuss her book, America’s Jewish Women: A History from Colonial Times to Today, winner of the 2019 National Jewish Book Award-Everett Family Foundation Jewish Book of the Year. Co-sponsored by The Emanuel Synagogue, the Jewish Historical Society of Fairfield County and the UCONN Judaic Studies Program, Nadell’s talk will highlight activist Jewish women, including some of those who fought for 72 years for women’s suffrage. Nadell is professor of Women’s and Gender History at American University where she directs the Jewish Studies Program. She is also the author of Women Who Would Be Rabbis: A History of Women’s Ordination, 1889-1995.
