Seymour “Sy” Gavens, 89, of West Hartford died Feb. 4. He was the husband of Annette (Rosker) Gavens. Born in Hartford, he was the son of Mary and Jack Gavensky. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, including one year in Korea. He was a member of Beth El Temple in West Hartford. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Lee Gavens, Andrew Gavens and his wife Sara, Michelle Gavens and her husband Brian Margolis; his grandchildren, Daniel (Sarah) and Abigail, Melissa, Jennifer and Molly, Jacob, Samuel and Deborah; his sister Allene Cohen; and sister-in-law Lorraine Gavens. He was predeceased by his brother Morton Gavens, his sister Etelle Wachs, and his daughter-in-law Susan Stein Gavens.
