ADL continues to fight antisemitism in all its forms and from all its sources
Re: “Connecticut woman launches a watchdog group that takes aim at antisemites” (Ledger, Sept. 24, 2019).
While we respect divergent views in the community, and even are open to criticism with respect to how to fight the resurgence of antisemitism, Jonathan Tobin’s false claims about the ADL (Anti-Defamation League) are deceitful and counterproductive to this fight.
Even a cursory look at ADL’s record of calling out antisemitism in all its forms would render Mr. Tobin’s argument moot. ADL is strictly nonpartisan and has been for more than 100 years: we fight antisemitism no matter the source. This past year, ADL responded to the use of the antisemitic trope of American Jews having a dual loyalty to the state of Israel propagated by Democratic Congresswomen Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar. We unequivocally condemned their use of this trope, just as we responded to the use of the same trope by President Trump.
ADL will continue to speak out without fear against the scourge of hate that is antisemitism, no matter where or who it comes from.
