Dr. Alan Weisel, 84, of Stamford, died July 4. He was the husband of Joyce Weisel, Born in the Bronx, N.Y. and raised in Stamford, he was the son of Isadore (Irving) and Mathilda (Tillie) Wiesel (not a typo; a name change). He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War (1965-66), as Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery of the 93rd Evacuation Hospital at Long Binh. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Roberta Smithline and her husband Richard of Rye, N.Y., Michael Weisel and his wife Hope of Stamford, and Peter Weisel and his wife Alissa Joy Wool of Stamford; his eight grandchildren, William, Andrew and Robert Smithline, Amanda and Joshua Weisel and Shelby, Eden and Jack Ford Weisel; and his sister Ann Goldblum and her husband Alex of Stamford.
