Exploring “The Legacy of Anne Frank”

WEST HARTFORD – Noted Anne Frank scholar Gillian Walnes Perry will discuss her book, The Legacy of Anne Frank, on Monday, June 24 at 7 p.m. at Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Avenue in West Hartford. Co-sponsored by Congregation Beth Israel and The Emanuel Synagogue, both of West Hartford, the program is free and open to all.

Perry co-founded the Anne Frank Trust in the United Kingdom in 1990 with family and friends of Anne Frank’s father, Otto Frank. A not-for-profit educational charity, the Trust uses Anne Frank’s powerful and tragic story to help young people understand and challenge prejudice and hatred, and embrace positive attitudes, responsibility, and respect for others.

In 2010, Gillian received a Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her work. After 26 years of building the Anne Frank Trust, she retired as executive director. She now lectures and writes about the life and legacy of Anne Frank, as well as a range of popular social history topics.
