Albert “Al” Spaien, 91, died April 14. He was the husband of Fritzie (Winick) Spaien. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Hyman and Tillie (Rosen) Spaien. He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Beth EL Temple in West Hartford and later at Temple Israel in Portsmouth, N.H. He is survived by his daughters, Gail Ellen Spaien and her husband Rick Bertaska of South Portland, Me. and Eve Tracey Kennedy-Spaien and her husband Kevin of Danvers, Mass.; and his grandchildren, Amelia Bertaska and Evan Kennedy-Spaien. He was predeceased by his sister Martha (Spaien) Dwartz.
