Gertrude Markowitz Horowitz, 100, of West Hartford, died Jan. 21. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Louis and Sarah (Gelfand) Markowitz. She was the widow of Saul Horowitz. She was a member of The Emanuel Synagogue and a lifetime member of Hadassah. She volunteered at UConn hospital for many years.  She is survived by her children, Richard Mark Horowitz and his wife Beverly of Los Angeles, CA, Susan Horowitz Aldrich and her husband Gerald of West Hartford, and Carol Horowitz Miller and her husband Larry of Ojo Sarco, NM; her grandchildren, Michael Samuel Aldrich and his wife Laura of Nashville, TN, Rabbi Samuel Louis Horowitz and his wife Ruth of Baltimore, MD, Rabbi Michael Aaron Horowitz and his wife Alona of Los Angeles, CA ,and Sara Norah Miller of Las Cruces, NM; her great-grandchildren, Emily and Molly Aldrich, Yitzhak, Elizer and his wife Ita, Chiam, Rivka and Sarah Horowitz and Miriam and her husband Tzvi Schecter, Menachem, Tzvi, Rina and Rachel Horowitz; her great-great-grandson Tzvi Schester; and her sister Rosiland Hoffman of West Hartford. She was also was predeceased by her sister Bertha McNally, and her brothers, Raymond, Joseph and Jacob Markowitz. Funeral services were held Jan. 24th with Rabbi David Small officiating.
