Samuel Blumenthal, 89, of Bloomfield, formerly of West Hartford, died Dec. 28. He was the husband of Frances (Finesilver) Blumenthal. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Harry S. Blumenthal and Emma Weiner Blumenthal. He served for two years in the U.S. Army, nine months of which were in Korea ‘52-’53 stationed at the 8th Army 1st Corps in Uijonbu, just above the 2022nd MASH Hospital. He was a lifelong member of Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Betsy Root and her husband Jonathan of San Francisco, CA, Edward Blumenthal and his wife Carolyn McKenna of West Hartford, and Laurence Blumehthal and his wife Vered of Jerusalem, Israel; his grandchildren, Noah, Charlotte, and Nathaniel Blumenthal, Max and Arthur Root, and Ahinoam, Emma, Benyamin, and Lavi Blumenthal; his step-granddaughters, Caitlin and Liza Fabbri; and his sister Joan Harris. He was also predeceased by his brother, Harry S. Blumenthal, Jr.
