Samuel Kanell, 99, died Dec. 22. He was the widower of Dorothy Kanell. He served in the U.S. Army artillery, with active duty in Europe from Feb.1942 to June 1946. He remained in the Army Reserve for the next 30 years retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He is survived by his children, Joseph Kanell and his wife Rochelle, and Gail Mangs and her husband, David; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his brother Jake Kanell.
