WEST HARTFORD – Lewis Glinert, a professor of Hebrew Studies at Dartmouth College and author of several books about the Hebrew language, spoke to more than 100 people at The Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford in May. In his talk Glinert explained how the Hebrew language has traveled from biblical days to become the national language of modern-day Israel, and how scholars studied and used Hebrew during the centuries in between for multiple purposes, including math. The event was sponsored by The Emanuel Synagogue Adult Education Committee.
