FAIRFIELD – Congregation Beth El in Fairfield will honor Gayle and Adam Kuhr as Couple of the Year at a gala event to be held Saturday evening, April 21.
The “Roaring ‘20s”-themed party will feature dinner, dancing and an open bar, plus casino games, including poker, roulette, blackjack and craps. Attendees will receive “Kuhr’s Kash” for games.
The couple, who met when they were both involved in Hillel and married in 2003, lived in Milford until making the move to Fairfield in 2011. They have been members of Beth El since 2007 when their eldest son, Jack, was born.
Gayle Kuhr joined Beth El’s Board of Directors as vice president of membership in 2013. She was previously an active member of the Spiritual Life Committee and is currently serving her third year as president of the Sisterhood, and as co-chair of the synagogue’s annual Comedy Night & Auction Fundraiser and the Second Night Community Seder, and served on the synagogue’s Human Resources Committee. In addition to her volunteer work at Beth El, Gayle is actively involved in Operation Hope, Habitat for Humanity and the Women’s Build Program known as “She Nailed It.” Professionally, she maintains a full-time career as a director of Strategic Client Partnerships for ADP.
An award-winning copywriter and creative director, Adam Kuhr continues to lend his creative talents to Beth El in a variety of ways. A long-time member of the Education Committee, he wrote and produced the synagogue’s new B’nai Mitzvah Guidebook. In addition, he founded and chairs the Beth El Marketing Committee, as well as the Kosher BBQ Championship events. Currently, he is leading the effort to rebrand Beth El and fully redesign the website. He wrote and managed the creation of all the posters, banners, brochures, and newsletters for the synagogue’s ATID Campaign.
