For seniors and students Tu’ B’Shevat is “Better Together”

On Jan. 31, Hebrew High School of New England opened the school’s doors to the community for a celebratory seder marking Tu B’Shevat – the “New Year of the Trees.” The event was sponsored in partnership with local advisors of NCSY (National Council of Synagogue Youth) Rabbi Moshe and Devorah Lustig, and HHNE senior Dalia Bruce, president of the local NCSY chapter.

Among the 70 HHNE staff and students, and community members in attendance, special guests at the seder included the 12 local senior adults who take part in “Better Together” – an intergenerational learning initiative that provides an opportunity for local senior adults to meet with HHNE students to learn Torah and discuss current events. The Tu B’Shevat celebration included Divrei Torah, a student-led tour of HHNE and a feast of fresh fruits.
