Mary Astor, 98, of Niantic, died Dec. 7. She was the widow of Bernard Astor. Born in Tamaqua, Penn., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bertha Nitchun. She was also predeceased by her daughter Hedi; her siblings, Dorothy, Rebecca and Sydney, and their spouses. She is survived by her sons, Michael Astor and his wife Susan, and Carl Astor and his wife Sharon; her son-in-law Carl; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister Shirley Vorspan and her husband Albert.
