Edith (Permutt) Szafman, 88, died Nov. 15. She was the widow of David Szafman. Born in New York, N.Y. and raised in Union City. N.J., she was the daughter of the late Jack and Sophie (Schultz) Permutt. She is survived by her sons, Mark Szafman and his wife Irene of Barrington, R.I., and Steve Szafman and his wife Michelle Kunzman of West Hartford; her brother Gerald Permutt of Rocklin, Calif.; her grandchildren, Sara Root (David) of Barrington, R.I., Jared (Lidia) of Brooklyn, N.Y., Julia Szafman of Tel Aviv, Israel, and Garrett Szafnab of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; her great-grandsons, Samuel and Wesley; and several nieces and nephews.
