Roman Luftglas, 92, of West Hartford, died August 11. He was the husband of Gertrude (Goldie) Sosin Luftglas. Born in Szczakowa, Poland, he survived the ghetto and a variety of Nazi concentration camps. He was liberated on May 8, 1945 from the camp Schport Schule in Lower Salesia. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served Japan and was attached to the 45th combat division in Korea. He was a lifetime member of Temple Beth Hillel in South Windsor and a member of The Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford. in addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Frieda Luftglas, and Elaine Levison and her husband Art; his son-in-Law Stephan Barshay and his wife Janice; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Luftglas Barshay.
