“Learning how to form healthy relationships will guide young children toward independence, motivation, and self-reliance,” says Karen Navarre, a teacher at Solomon Schechter Academy (SSA) in New London, who is leading a new SSA program for children 18 months to three years — together with their parents or caregivers. Called “Toddler Time,” the program’s activities are based on the seasons, holidays and the gifts of nature. “The intention is that all students will fall in love with learning, and that the love will sustain, nurture and support them throughout adulthood,” says Navarre. “Learning will never stop!”
