On Monday, Jan. 16, The Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford marked Martin Luther King Day with a discussion led by Prof. Cheryl Greenberg of Trinity College on the topic “A History of Black-Jewish Relations and Why It Matters Today More Than Ever.”
“An important lesson we can learn from the civil rights movement and the Black-Jewish civil rights coalition is that we can accomplish important things even in the midst of disagreements, so long as we keep a spacious sense of our self-interest,” Greenberg said in her talk, which was sponsored by The Emanuel’s Adult Education Committee, headed by Gail Adler.
