Lisa Grant named Mandell JCC youth theater director

WEST HARTFORD – Lisa Grant has been appointed youth theater director of the Mandell JCC in West Hartford, it was announced recently by the JCC’s Executive Director David Jacobs.

Grant, whose first assignment is to direct the JCC’s upcoming production of Alice in Wonderland Jr., began her professional career performing in musical theater and opera. She earned a Masters degree from the Julliard School in New York City and has appeared on stages across the United States and Europe.

She obtained her Connecticut Teaching Certifications in music education and theater arts and currently teaches choir/general music/theater for the Simsbury school district, and directs the Henry James Memorial School musical, recently selected as the New England Theatre Conference’s outstanding youth theater production for the 2015-16 Production of The Lion King Jr. In addition to teaching, Grant maintains a private vocal and theater arts studio.

Performance dates for Alice in Wonderland Jr. are Saturdays, Dec. 3 and 10, Sundays, Dec. 4 and 11.
