WESTPORT — Stamford resident Shoshana Dweck has been appointed interim executive director of Federation for Jewish Philanthropy (JFP) — the merged entity comprised of the former Jewish Federation of Westport Weston Wilton Norwalk and the Jewish Federation of Eastern Fairfield County, it was announced recently by JFP Board Chair Bonnie Slyn. Dweck’s new role at JFP will be part-time.

Long active in the Fairfield County Jewish community, Dweck is immediate past president of the United Jewish Federation of Greater Stamford, New Canaan and Darien, where she successfully guided the organization through a lengthy interim period between executives. She has also been involved with Federation on a national level, recently serving as secretary and chair of the Communication Committee of the United Israel Appeal.

A member of Temple Sinai in Stamford, Dweck has served on the board of Bi-Cultural Day School, and is the outgoing vice chair of development of the Association of Reform Zionists of America (ARZA). In her prior professional life, she was a practicing attorney specializing in computer and Internet-based transactions. She has extensive experience in strategic planning and implementation and is especially adept at working with and leading organizations through times of transformational change.

At the same time, wrote Slyn in a letter to supporters, JFP is conducting a nationwide search for a new executive director, in close consultation with the Federation’s umbrella organization, Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA).

“We’ve completed a comprehensive first-round search/screening process, and are enthusiastic about the interesting and diverse group of people that we’ve attracted.  We are currently scheduling interviews with a strong group of potential candidates, and expect these to be completed by the end of July,” Slyn wrote.

She also noted that Federation is preparing for a move at the end of June to the agency’s new “rent-free”offices on the soon-to-be-completed Jewish Senior Services campus (aka The Jewish Home), located on the Fairfield/Bridgeport border.
