Mandell JCC opens sports and community center in Canton

Grand Opening/Open House, Sunday, Jan. 3

WEST HARTFORD — The new Mandell JCC Valley Sports & Community Center will have its Grand Opening/Open House on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 1 – 4 p.m. at 310 Albany Tpke. in Canton. The event is free and open to the community. Visitors are invited to try the center’s classes, meet the staff and enjoy the facility.

The Grand Opening event will include a variety of programs and sports classes for all ages, including: American Ninja Warrior Training, Family Boot Camp and Sports Performance Training.

Baseball players in grades 3 – 12 will have the opportunity to hone their batting skills when they get instruction from Canton High School JV Coach Mike Scott.

Children ages 1-5 can get moving with Mini Stars: Soccer, Mini Stars: Sports Sports Sports and Motion Mania. Children who prefer the arts can enjoy music-based programs such as Happy Piano, Music with Miss Marie and PJ Library Stories and Songs with Cantor Marian Kleinman of the Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation.

Children in grades K-8 can participate in Kids Yoga, Rising Stars: Basketball and Super Stars: Basketball.

There will also be open-play basketball for ages 10 on up from 1 – 2:30 p.m.
